The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd 2011 - 2012 Class Schedule

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program here at St. Patrick Catholic Church is designed to help young children, ages 3-6, explore their relationship with God and His Church. Participants meet in our Atrium, a child-sized environment filled with a collection of objects used to engage a child’s interest and help them have a hands-on experience with the Scriptures, the Liturgy, meditation, and prayer.

Emphasis areas of The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd include:

• Articles of the Altar
•  Infancy Narratives
• Gestures of the Mass
• Parables—emphasizing the Good Shepherd
• The Liturgical Year of the Church
• The geography of the Holy Land

Registration is required for participation and volunteer catechists and assistants are always welcome.

Children's Liturgy of the Word 2011 - 2012 Schedule

Children’s Liturgy of the Word helps young children relate to the Mass on their own level by exploring the Word of God
using The Children’s Lectionary for Masses, which is approved by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and confirmed by the Apostolic See.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word meets twice each month during the Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00AM Mass when all children ages 3-6 are invited to come forward to participate. Trained catechists then lead the children through prayer and reflection on the Sunday readings. The children return to the Mass for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

There is no cost to participate and registration is not required. All children ages 3-6 are welcome and encouraged to take part. Volunteer catechists and assistants are also welcomed to get involved with this important ministry.
