FORMATION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES PRESCHOOL – FIFTH GRADE

The Atrium:

  • Catechist:  Provide hands on learning, sacramentally based, for 3 – 6 year old children along with introduction to the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church.  Additional Catechesis of the Good Shepherd training provided.
  • Commitment:  Two – three classes each month
  • Catechist Assistant:  Assists the lead Catechist in the Atrium
  • Commitment:  Two – three classes each month

Children’s Liturgy of the Word:

  • Catechist:  Teaching preschool and kindergarten age children the Word of God through faith forming activities.  Held two Sundays per month during the 9:00 AM Mass.
  • Commitment:  Two to three hours per month for preparation and class time.

Family Formation:

  • Catechist:  Responsible for teaching youth grades K – 5, the beliefs of our Catholic Faith.
  • Commitment:  Prepare classroom lesson once a month and attend monthly training.
  • Catechist Assistant:  Assist the lead Catechist in a classroom or small group setting.
  • Commitment:  Assist at classroom lesson once a month and attend monthly training.
  • Substitute Catechist:  Step in to teach for a regular catechist when they are absent.
  • Commitment:  As needed.

EDGE:

  • Core member (Small group leader):  Responsible for teaching, building faith based relationships, and creating a safe affirming place for youth grades 6 – 8, where our Catholic Faith can be explored, embraced and lived.
  • Commitment:  Edge meets three times per month plus additional scheduled training and meetings.

FORMATION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES GRADES 9 – 12

Lifeteen:

  • Core Member (Small group leader):  Will be empowered to interact with teenagers and build safe, Christ-centered friendships through teachings of the Church, important teen issues and social events where their Catholic Faith can be explored, embraced and lived.
  • Commitment:  Wednesday nights two times per month from September to May.  7:00 – 9:00 pm and additional scheduled Core team training.  Class preparation of one to two hours, two times per month.

Confirmation:

  • Small Group Leader:  Prepare and lead a small group of 10th – 12th grade youth for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
  • Commitment:  One year commitment.  Class, workshop and planning meetings throughout the year.

Youth Events:

  • Small Group Leader/Speaker/Facilitator:  Promote and/or present the programming for The Teen Timeline youth bible study or Theology of the Body for Teens in a small group setting.
  • Commitment:  Varies per event throughout the year.  See specific program for further details.

Youth Activity Chaperones:

  • Commitment varies
  • On site events
  • Lifeline Mass
  • Mission trip
  • Block party at CountryFest
  • Retreats
  • Field trips
  • Drivers for activities
  • Peer Ministry Retreat

Peer Ministry:

  • Confirmed youth – age 16 – 20 – willing to share their journey of faith through example and teaching by participating in the following:
  • Retreat Team
  • Catechist
  • Substitute Catechist
  • EDGE Core Team
  • Confirmation Co-leader
  • Catechist Assistant
  • Small Group Leader
  • Social and/or Enrichment Nights
