Adult Formation Programs

The Church requires all parents to be registered in the parish and to attend a baptism class.  The baptism class is held at Saint Patrick’s.

You do not have to wait until your child is born, we encourage you to attend this class as early in your pregnancy as possible.  Please call the parish office at 763.753.2011 for more information or for registrations in a baptism class.

SOLID GROUNDS BIBLE STUDY

THURSDAY MORNINGS

In 2001, a small group of parishioners here at the Church of St. Patrick gathered to share their common interest in learning more about sacred scripture. A few of those charter members, as well as several others who have joined us over the years, continue to meet in what is now known as the Solid Grounds Bible Study—aptly named for the freshly brewed coffee that is provided at every meeting.

Our morning Bible study group kicks off in September and runs until May. We meet approximately every other Thursday morning right here at the Church of St. Patrick from 9-11AM. Every year we focus on one book of the Bible. During our 2011-2012 season, we will be studying St. Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians. There is no fee for the class, but each participant is responsible for the cost of the books used in our study. Our meetings are guided discussions and all members are encouraged to participate by preparing through personal home study and contributing in our group discussion.

In addition to our scripture study, last year we elected to reserve the last portion of our meeting to begin a study of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults. It was a hit, so we plan to continue that effort again this year.

While our objective is to learn more about scripture by studying it in its historical and cultural context, our ultimate objective is to strengthen our spiritual character and grow in the light of God’s loving message of Salvation.

Welcome!

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church is happy to assist you as you prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony. The Sacrament of Matrimony is for a lifetime. The wedding is only for a day. That is why I put great emphasis on providing the best marriage preparations possible through personal meetings, classes and faith formation opportunities. I want you to be as spiritually prepared as you can be before receiving this sacrament.

For many details of the wedding we provide a booklet at our first meeting that you can go through at your leisure. I hope this will be of assistance to you and answer the questions you have. If there are further questions, please feel free to contact me.

May God bless you in this journey!

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA is the process through which men and women who have an interest in the Roman Catholic faith may explore the possibility of becoming Catholic. Through a series of rites conducted in the context of learning about the faith and spiritual formation, participants journey through to full initiation into the Roman Catholic Church.

Who may participate in the RCIA?

  • Those who have never been baptized.
  • Those who have been baptized in another Christian denomination but would like to join the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Those who were baptized Catholic but have received little or no instruction and now wish to prepare for Eucharist and/or Confirmation.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a communal process, and so we invite all to pray for those among us who are discerning entrance into the faith.

Lord, we pray for all those who journey to you.
Strengthen their faith.
Open their hearts to the fullness of your love.
Deepen their understanding.
Set their hearts afire for the kingdom.
We ask this through Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth,
and the Life for all.  Amen.

RCIA meets weekly on Tuesdays, September through Easter.  Classes are held at Saint Patrick's from 7:00 – 8:30 PM.  There is no cost to participate, but participation requires the following:

  • Attendance at weekly gatherings
  • Attendance at Sunday Mass
  • Participation in the rituals/events that mark key points during the RCIA process

It is the role of the RCIA team and the entire parish to give opportunities for prayer, witness, spiritual formation and service to shape the journey of those who are seeking to become fully incorporated into the Body of Christ, the Church.  To restore the spirit of early Christianity, the RCIA process emphasizes conversion as a participation in the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ.

For more information or to register in the RCIA program at Saint Patrick’s, please call Mike Franchino at 763.434.4754 or the parish office at 763.753.2011.  You may also fill out the contact form

VIRTUS training is an awareness session which better equips adults to protect children and vulnerable adults in the world around them.  Safe environment training has been given to over 100,000 children, parents, employees, teachers, volunteers and clergy.  Virtus training is required for all parish volunteers who are in regular    or unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18.

Note:  All catechists or volunteers (18 years and older) working with children under the age of 18 must attend a VIRTUS session, complete a background check, and sign a code of conduct.

Periodic sessions are held at St. Patrick’s.  Sessions are announced in the bulletin so please watch for these announcements.  There are many sessions scheduled at other area churches if the dates here at St. Patrick’s do not fit into your schedule.  Each session lasts approximately 3 hours.
